We now have the primary source. Mahindra’s official press release settles two things we had been sourcing to outlets. The three special editions are officially Reef, Trail and Valley, each with its own finish: Reef in Aquareef, Trail in Sahara Beige and Valley in Artemis Grey. Early coverage that called one of them “Surfer” was wrong. The release also confirms the export map first-hand: the Mahindra Lifestyler is bound for Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Launch stays by April 2027 at a starting price below ₹19.79 lakh ex-showroom. We have upgraded those rows on the spec sheet to cite Mahindra directly. Powertrain numbers, payload, towing and dimensions are still not in any official document, so they stay labelled reported. Separately, CarWale is now listing a ₹18.30 lakh indicative starting estimate, which would sit comfortably under Mahindra’s own sub-₹19.79 lakh line.

The Lifestyler is not just an India play. At the unveiling, Mahindra laid out where the truck goes next, and Autocar Professional reports the target markets: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the wider African continent, the Middle East, and Latin America, all sold as the Mahindra Lifestyler. These are established double-cab regions where the Hilux and D-Max already sell in volume, so the pricing gap that matters in India could travel well. The India timeline is unchanged: launch by April 2027, starting below ₹19.79 lakh. Payload, towing and dimensions remain undisclosed.

A day on from the reveal, the picture is firming up. The three special editions are Reef, Trail and Valley, themed around beach, off-road and mountain use, per RushLane; early coverage that called the beach trim “Surfer” appears to have been wrong, and we’ve corrected it. On powertrains, Autocar India reports a roughly 172-175 bhp 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol of about 200 bhp for select markets, with a 4XPLOR 4WD system. Torque is now quoted as high as 450 Nm by some outlets. None of the powertrain numbers are official yet, so they stay labelled reported on our spec sheet. The reveal came with a timeline nobody predicted: the Lifestyler goes on sale in India in 2027, with prices announced in April 2027. Mahindra hinted at a starting price under ₹19.79 lakh ex-showroom, higher than the ₹16 lakh floor most outlets expected, and ZigWheels estimates ₹19.79 lakh for the 4x4 MT and ₹20.79 lakh for the 4x4 AT. Still roughly ₹10 lakh under the cheapest Hilux. Powertrain figures remain officially unconfirmed; ZigWheels lists the 2.2L mHawk at 172.45 bhp and 400 Nm.

Mahindra has pulled the covers off the production truck, and the Scorpio N Pik Up now has a real name: Scorpio Lifestyler in India, plain Lifestyler for global markets. Confirmed at the reveal: inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, a gloss-black grille with orange accents, vertically stacked fog lamps, squared LED tail lights, Lifestyler lettering on the tailgate, and a dual-cab layout. Payload, towing, and price. Mahindra has said nothing about the first two, and they decide whether this is a lifestyle truck or a working one. The Hilux carries around a tonne and tows 3,500 kg braked. If the Pik Up lands near that with a ₹16 lakh opening price, the segment changes today. If payload comes in soft, it’s a Scorpio N with a bed. Still interesting, different buyer.
